Handball in Germany
After soccer and ski jumping, handball is the third most popular sport among Germans. The German Handball Association (DHB) consists of 760,000 members in around 4,200 clubs and 21,000 teams. Now, with Tickaroo’s assistance, handball.net presents a completely revamped news and data platform that includes everything a handball enthusiast could want: from live streams and video centers to results and club overviews. For the first time, the "portal of the DHB, its state associations and the leagues" brings together all officials and athletes with fans and interested parties. In addition to the website, the app is also available for iOS and Android. Those responsible at the DHB and Tickaroo agree: handball.net is a big hit for German handball.
The first of its kind: handball.net becomes the most comprehensive handball portal
Until now, clubs and the federation organized the reporting independently of each other, but with the new platform this is luckily no longer the case. As a contact point for players, clubs, leagues, and federations, handball.net has built an extensive news platform and database. In addition to the results of all amateur and professional leagues in Germany, clubs can follow their own official liveblogs. Those interested also have the opportunity to report from the side-lines with fan liveblogs. Registered users can follow clubs under the "My Handball" tab and also receive push notifications when matches start. Interactive widgets, with match schedules and tables, can also be exported as HTML code (iframe) and used for your own club’s website. With regard to sponsorship and marketing, new opportunities are also opening up for the DHB. At the same time, media partnerships are expected to increase coverage. For handball fans, the extensive launch means a completely new user experience of a central platform that is unique throughout Germany.
A big hit: a platform that informs, entertains, and brings enthusiasts together
The Tickaroo team, which bundles this project under the brand made.by Tickaroo, were successful in their pitch. This was also thanks to their numerous other references, including kicker among others. "We are experienced in dealing with large amounts of data. We were faced with the challenge of aggregating countless pieces of information — from village clubs to the national team — in a sustainable way. With handball.net, we have succeeded in preparing this data in such a way that it is presented in an intuitive and visually appealing manner. In addition, the platform is now also a community platform that brings together, informs and entertains all stakeholders through multimedia," says Matthew Ulbrich, CEO of Tickaroo, describing the initial goals and visions.
The German Handball Federation is looking forward to the next step and sees the new platform as a big hit: "Men, women and youth from the Federal League to the District Leagues are coming together under one roof. handball.net will become the new digital home of handball," says Thomas Zimmermann, Director of Marketing and Communications at the German Handball Federation. "We are simplifying access to all match data in Germany and creating more reach and presence for our sport via a modern and mobile presentation."
